European champions Milan have announced that they have agreed a deal with Cagliari to sign David Suazo. The Rossoneri were rumoured to have pipped city rivals Inter with a late bid yesterday and that has been noted as reality by the club this morning.“The Honduran attacker David Suazo will wear the Milan jersey next season,” a statement on the club’s website noted.“His transfer from Cagliari into Rossonero was concluded after negotiations which took place last night.”Cagliari chief Massimo Cellino has also confirmed the move. “I’ve signed a deal with Milan,” he simply noted at the Lega Calcio offices this morning.Suazo is understood to have cost the Champions League winners a sum in the region of £10m.

The club coefficient is 33% of the league coefficient plus the number of points earned by the club in the five seasons. MILAN - The news that there has been a meeting between Real Madrid officials and Ricky Kakà's father, engineer Bosco Leite has not caught the Rossoneri officials out. Chief executive Adriano Galliani told the club's official site: 'We can confirm we will not sell Kakà, but we knew about this meeting because we were already informed of it by Kakà's father and Gaetano Paolillo. So Milan can confirm that Kakà is certainly not for sale but this offer is born out of the different fiscal constraints between Italy and Spain which advantage the top Spanish sides compared to the top Italian clubs. Practically, the gross sum offered to a top player by an Italian club is 50% of the figure while in Spain it is 75%.

Pippo Inzaghi was a guest on Milan Channel where he looked back at what was a wonderful season for the striker. He said: 'The night in Athens was magical, scoring twice. I still can't believe it happened. I am going to stay in Italy for my vacation, to be close to everyone, I like the affection from the people. I will be with my family and relax for a bit in the sun.'As for his contract. 'I feel part of the family and I want to stay. I feel great here and it's a pity that the season is over. I have to thank Berlusconi and Galliani for extending my deal to 2011 before I left for Antwerp. This is the difference with Milan compared to other clubs. I don't think anyone else would have done that before an operation.'Pippo is now on 284 goals and is setting his sights on 300: 'I want to reach this target but winning trophies with the team is more important.' He was also the first back last summer when Milan had to play the Champions League preliminary round: 'I was in Sardinia, I had just arrived so I got on the first plane back. We knew it wasn't right to have to play it and the first thing I thought was that I would be playing on my birthday (August 9).'It all ended well in Athens where Pippo scored twice against Liverpool: 'The first was instinctive, it's all you could do in a position like that. I had done it before in the derby. Kakà did well for the second goal. The goalkeeper Reina did well to wait until the last moment and it was lucky the ball went under him. However, once I had gone wide and shot then I knew I had scored.'President Berlusconi predicted the forward would score both in Munich and Athens: 'He has always had faith in me. He called me before both games to ask me to score two.' As for the national side: 'It's great to be back, we are all together and working alongside the coach.'Looking ahead to next season: 'The club have done well. The team does not need changing. Then, if a few top players arrive that will help the side. The Italian and foreign players intergrate well. The there are players like Maldini and Costacurta who show everyone how to behave, both at Milanello and on the pitch.'And what Gilardino has had to say: 'Alberto is young and needs our help. He's a great player and great friend. I think he can be a Milan striker for the next 10 years. He's well liked in the dressing room and this is important.'Pippo is looking forward to playing in the Club World Cup: 'I am looking forward to going back and we really want to win it but it's one thing at a time and first we have the European Super Cup. We have five objectives we want to reach.'On other themes: 'Maldini should win the Golden Ball for his career and Kakà for what he has done this season. I am pleased Ancelotti has renewed his contract. It wasn't easy for him to make the decision over the strikers for the final in Athens. The coach had to look at the moment not the past.'A final word for the fans: 'I want to thank them. They have always remained close to me, not just in Athens but through the difficult times.'

Silvio Berlusconi, Adriano Galliani and Carlo Ancelotti all agree that Milan are not the sort of side to ever give up as three Champions League Finals in five years provesBERLUSCONI: 'We thought we could get to the final and win the Cup once we saw the teams that remained in the competition. Now we are in a particular final because we have the possibility to get revenge against Liverpool. I was supporting Liverpool in the other semi-final. Milan's mission is always to control the pitch. We have reached eight Champions League finals under my management and thanks to this team I am the president with the most titles. I remain extremely satisfied with the play expressed by the team. It was normal that they would go on the attack at the start of the second half but we reacted well and we took control again at the end. I can spend more time with the team now because I am not Prime Minister. I have been joking in other interviews that we will now have to hold on to Ancelotti for another few years, but it's a pleasure to take apart all those who have raised problems about two strikers. Milan played with two strikers this evening because there was first Pippo and Kakà and then Seedorf who scored and played up front. I know Sheva will support Milan in the final. It's normal because his heart remained here and it would be really great to have him return but he has taken that decision.'GALLIANI: 'I am sorry that they said this side was old, and finished at the start of season. My response is that we are in the third final in five years and that's a fantastic result. It's very important to reach a final with such an important result. It was a magical evening and it's down to the coach, the team, and why not, the club. There is no favourite in the final. Liverpool have a different style to us. The result is not down to one player in Kakà but to all of them: Ambrosini, Seedorf, Gattuso. One player doesn't make a team even if it is Kakà.'ANCELOTTI: 'This night is for all Rossoneri fans. This is probably the most magical night, the one in which Milan played the most brilliant game they have played since I’ve been on this bench. There was such courage and character. I think that this was a dream game, the kind that every coach would like to see his side play both for the game and for the position that the players took. This group has made it to the final in good form, perhaps even better than in all the other finals. Now, it will be really important to settle the discussion of fourth place in the league so that we can have the time necessary to prepare for the final. Few people thought that we would make it to the final and it was difficult to reach it. My contract? It certainly isn’t the principle issue, but it helps because it brings good luck. Up until this moment everyone has given their contribution and we will do everything to give our fans this joy. Many people thought that we were done for, but this side is like a cat… we have nine lives and we will never die. This is a club with a great tradition of winning these kind of games where everything is on the line.'

The rain may have fallen all day in the city, but that did not dampen Milan's performance as they overcame Manchester United 3-0 to reach the Champions League Final in Athens on a 5-3 aggregate scoreline. The Rossoneri outclassed the Premier League side from the first whistle as they took control of the game and played the ball around with confidence. Ricky Kakà was at his majestic best and early on burst through the static defence to drag a shot across the face of the goal. Clarence Seedorf then forced goalkeeper Edwin Van der Sar into a finger-tip save but the opening goal came on 11 minutes when Seedorf headed the ball into Kakà's path and the Brazilian swept a low left-footed shot into the corner of the net. At the other end, Nelson Dida was not called into action until the 20th minute but 10 minutes later Seedorf doubled the lead. United tried to play the ball out of defence and the move broke down when defender Nemanja Vidic slipped on the edge of the area to concede possession to Andrea Pirlo. The midfielder's cross was cleared only as far as Seedorf on the edge of the area, and the Dutchman flicked the ball to his right before smashing a low drive beyond Van der Sar.Milan began the second half in equally positive fashion and Kakà was soon slicing through the defence to force Van der Sar into a difficult save. United pushed forward looking for a way back into the game but were undone when substitute Alberto Gilardino raced from almost the halfway line to finish coolly to put the result beyond doubt. The dream for every Milan follower came true when Ronaldo scored against Inter to confirm that there is no one like him when it comes to the big occasion, possessing the coolness to finish in a clinical manner. The Brazilian star came back to haunt his former side just as he had done in a Real Madrid shirt when he scored at Barcelona. However, it was not enough to stop Inter from winning the 265th derby although the goal will live long in the memory. 'The Phenomenon' broke the deadlock five minutes before the break when he gathered a pass and turned past a defender before firing a low left-footed shot into the corner from a good 20 metres. There is no doubt that Carlo's Ancelotti's side paid for the extra 30 minutes they played against Celtic in midweek as Julio Cruz scored the equaliser and Zlatan Ibrahimovic put the Nerazzurri ahead. It was the seventh game the team have played in 20 days and of course Inter were never going to be pushovers. It was not a joyous 600th apperance for Paolo Maldini but just like the captain the side will bounce back and continue to chase the goals they have set for this second part of the season.

Carlo Ancelotti knows that each opponent is difficult at this stage of the Champions League and speaking to Milan Channel he said: 'The draw is always delicate, we will come up against a tough side although there are others too. Bayern had some difficulties during the winter months, but they changed coach and they are one of the hardest teams to face physically but they allow you to play compared to other teams. We have a good chance of qualifying but playing the return in Germany complicates things a bit.'Ancelotti has used a more packed midfeld in this Champions League campaign and he explained: 'It's a more balanced system, it's necessary when there is uncertainy. We are maybe not spectacular but we are definitely more concentrated, aggressive and risk little.'It is the third time the coach and Milan will face the German side and Carlo said: 'What I remember the most along with the qualification last year was the 2-1 win in Munich is 2002-03 when Pippo scored twice. It's a good omen.'

Paolo Maldini spoke on Milan Channel about the satisfaction of the Champions League qualification and how he has always believed in the final in Athens. ‘To be honest I always believed in the final in Athens, not just since yesterday. This has always been our objective and you can only have the possibility of arriving if you really believe. Without a doubt some important sides were eliminated and this eases things even further. Yesterday’s game was very difficult. A 0-0 results is always an ambiguous score, even if you score there is always the fear that they could score at the last minute. However, Milan historically have always proven that they can turn this result in their favour.’‘I was really tired after yesterday’s game, it was intense. All things considered, today I trained really hard despite some pain. Sunday’s game against Inter is too important and I naturally hope to be there. Inter and Milan are coming from two very different situations. Our qualification has certainly charged our morale. Our objective is to remain in fourth place with a derby victory. It will be a strange game, it’s been quite sometime since we have played this fixture during the day.’

Daniele Bonera spoke about his passion for Milan from the afternoon press conference at Milanello.Champions league draw: ‘After yesterday night, we have every reason to believe that we can reach the Champions League final. There were some surprise, like Barcelona’s elimination, but nevertheless there are great squads remaining. I believe that this group has the strength to be able to win. Honestly, Roma are great team and I would avoid them, Liverpool and Manchester UTD are also teams to be feared.’The derby: ‘We will prepare for this really important game starting today. It has been a really intense week with Chievo and then the 120 minutes yesterday. We must recover the right mental energy and in this respect we have one day less than Inter, but four days should be enough. Inter will certainly be very angry because they didn’t play poorly in Valencia, they just lacked the goal. It is an exciting game and we want to demonstrate that there is nothing to the thirty points between them and us. Anything can happen, but I am only hoping for a great show.’Bonera and Milan: ‘This has always been my team in heart and, now that I wear this jersey, I want to do all that I can to be able to remain here as long as possible. I had to adjust to the new environment and other things, after my move here from Parma. Everyone really supported me during that time and they didn’t pressure me but instead allowed me to work at my own pace. I have always believed in my potential and all of this has helped me grow. I am going through a period of good form and I want to continue on this path.’His position: ‘I was born to play central defender. I also played full-back with Parma, but believe me when I say that there is a difference in playing that position with an average team like Parma and a great team like Milan. Ancelotti’s approach takes a certain kind of push on the flanks and in this sense I don’t think I can give what my team-mates in that position can.’Bonera and national duty: ‘Not to be presumptuous, but I think I will be called up. I started playing for the Azzurri Italian national side when I was very young. I think that being able to be part of this group here with Milan will help me to develop to my full potential. In this sense, my model remains Paolo Maldini. He is great to learn from. He played an extraordinary game against Celtic even though he was still experiencing some physical problems. Maldini is fundamental for us.'

Marcos Cafu was in a live chat this morning on Uefa.com, where fans across the world got a chance to ask him questions on a range of topics. Here are the major themes that the Rossoneri champion brushed upon: Milan and the Champions League: ‘I believe Milan has the strength to win the Champions League this season. I think we have a very talented group of players and very experienced as well. For all the things we passed in the start of the season, I think we are playing a very good Champions League.’ The draw in Athens: ‘You can’t choose any opponent at this stage of the competition. All of them are great sides. The one team I would not like to play is AS Roma. I have played there for so long, I admire the club and the crowd, so I don’t want to play against them.’ The best player in the world: ‘It is hard to pick only one, there are so many guys playing so well… maybe for what he has been doing since last year I would pick Drogba. Kaká is one of the best, as well as Lampard and Gerrard. As for defenders, there are so many… Roberto Carlos, Ashley Cole, Maldini, Terry, Alex, Luisão, Lucio…. I can give you a huge list of defenders I admire. I like Jamie Carragher as well. He’s got much better later, he’s been developing and raising his level a lot during the last years. I played with Alex in the Seleção and I knew already he was a great defender and with a lot of potential. Someone who knows him less well, however, might be surprised and think how come he can be so fast with that big body. He is amazing.’ Marcos’ future: ‘I don’t know! I really don’t know. To be honest, I haven’t decided yet. Maybe I will end my career here in Milan, but there is a possibility of going back to Brazil. And in this case, if I go back to Brazil, I don’t know to which club yet. Right now, I am focused only on Milan.’ If Milan play Liverpool again this year: ‘I promise you we will do everything to beat them and try to forget that defeat. What happened in Istanbul was amazing, unbelievable, one of those things that won’t happen again. It would be obviously special for us to meet Liverpool again and beat them this time. It is hard to describe the feeling when Shevchenko missed the penalty. It was like a cold water shower, as if a piano had fallen onto your head.’ The derby: ‘It is a huge game, but at the same time it is normal for us, South American players. We are pretty used to big derbies. In Sao Paulo, for example, all the games involving Sao Paulo, Palmeiras, Corinthians and Santos have the same level of tension and importance. Here, I see it as a tough game, a good result would bring us tranquillity for the rest of the season.’ Cafu and attacking football: ‘When I am playing home, I think the best formation is 4-3-1-2, when I am playing away I like the 4-4-2. I like it with two strikers, it is much better for us, the backs. Of course I am 100% in favour of attacking football, however you can’t forget to defend. Maybe it is a little bit what happened with Barcelona this season. They forgot that they needed to defend to win.’ Football idols: ‘As a kid, Pelé was my idol. During my career I admired Maradona, because I saw him playing and had the opportunity to play some matches against him. Does Paolo Maldini is an inspiration, not only for me, but for all the players who are 30 and think they can’t play anymore. Paolo works so hard everyday, it is such a positive attitude. His dedication is an example for all of us.’ Various interesting facts about Cafu: ‘Basically I like to watch movies, DVDs with my family. I played futsal for two years when I was young. All the kids in Brazil play futsal, it is a great game. It is good for dribbles in short spaces in the football pitch. But I can’t say my game has much of futsal characteristics. Over the years my positioning has changed and my style has changed as well. I am not on any type of special diet, but the unhealthiest thing to eat before a match is pasta “a carbonara”. But I didn’t do it! Probably my little escape this week was one dessert I had… Passion fruit mousse! Outside of football, I am working hard for my charity organisation. We help 380 kids in the poor neighbourhood where I grew up nearby Sao Paulo. We help more than 3900 people every month, offering several professional courses, in hair dressing, arts, computers…. We wanted to get bigger, to help more people, bring education and hope for those in need. But we need more financial assistance as well. My three tips for those young players that want to be successful in their career: 1) never get even close to drugs 2) don’t think you are a superstar and 3) respect your profession.’
